About
Paludi Biomass.

Paludi biomass comes from wet or rewetted peatland areas and enables the gentle use of these unique ecosystems. From paludi biomass, we produce high-quality fibers for products in the field of paper and packaging.
Paludi Biomass
is generated by cultivating suitable plants such as reeds, cattails, or sedges, which thrive even under wet conditions. These plants form the basis for our fibers.
Paludiculture
refers to the agricultural use of wet or rewetted peatlands. Instead of draining peatlands – which releases large amounts of CO₂ – they are left in their natural state or restored. This allows the peatlands to fulfill their function as a carbon sink again while the areas are simultaneously used economically, which supports the long-term maintenance of the ecosystems.
Why Are Peatlands Important?
Peatlands are true climate protectors: they store twice as much carbon worldwide as all forests combined, regulate the water balance, and provide a habitat for rare animal and plant species.

In Germany, many peatland areas are severely damaged by drainage. Rewetting is an effective measure for climate protection – and this is exactly where paludiculture comes in. It enables a sustainable use of wet peat soils, also concentrates on degraded areas, and helps to preserve or rebuild the peat. In this way, climate protection is combined with regional biomass production.
Fiber Innovation from Peatlands: Paludi Biomass
Paludi biomass combines climate protection with innovation and enables the use of alternative raw materials without draining or destroying peatlands. On the contrary: paludi biomass combines climate protection with innovation. Its use creates the economic basis for paludiculture (the management of rewetted peatlands). In this way, it enables the extraction of alternative fibers without damaging peatlands. It even supports the renaturation of these important ecosystems.
